How To Become An Instagram Influencer (And Make Money Doing It!)

Sharing is caring!

The LadyBossBlogger Course Takes The Guesswork Out Of Making Money Online

“How do I do what you do? How do I become an Instagram influencer?”

It’s the question I get the most on my Instagram.

Well, let me rephrase – it’s the question I get the most that I don’t have a short answer for.

When someone asks me what vacuum they should get, which carpet cleaner works best for the money, or where to get the supplies they need to replicate a DIY I’ve created and shared on my social media, I can easily answer those questions.

But the answer to the question of how to become an Instagram influencer is not a quick and easy how-to that I could cover in an Instagram post.

I’ve been an Instagram influencer for 2 1/2 years now, having started on the platform six months after launching my blog.

Between you and me, I honestly didn’t see the value or the point in starting an Instagram.

That’s just for pictures of people’s kids and plates of food, right? 😉

I didn’t realize that three years later I would be making a full-time income on Instagram or have built a tribe of amazing mothers that follow along with my stories every day, and trust my recommendations for cleaning products, DIY projects, as well as products and services that make motherhood easier and more fun!

But it didn’t happen overnight.

There was tons of trial and error, and a few dozen mistakes. I even renamed my blog and my social channels five times in just the first year.

I wish I was kidding about rebranding five times, but it’s true.

I was a little lost in my first year on social media as a brand and a blogger, but my biggest struggle was defining who I was serving and what I was providing to the people who followed me and my blog.

I also struggled with the fact that I was supposed to be providing content my audience valued, and not just whatever I felt like posting.

Looking back, I think if I had a guiding hand to help me along those first few months after I started my Instagram account, I would be even further along with my earnings and influence than I am right now.

When Elaine from LadyBossBlogger reached out to me to review her course, How To Make Money As An Instagram Influencer, I knew I had to read through it and see if this would be a good resource for my readership and audience to answer that question.

I was a little apprehensive – becoming an influencer is tougher than it looks.

And I never want to recommend anything to my loyal audience that isn’t worth their time or money.

But this, guys, this is it.

This is the loaded baked potatoes and fries with ketchup on the side.

This course has all the answers to all of the questions you could possibly want to know about becoming an influencer and how to make money doing it.

So if you’ve been thinking that starting up an account and posting a few pictures is going to get you in touch with brands and opportunities, I have to suggest you follow Elaine’s lead with her course!

Because unless you are Kim Kardashian, doing whatever you want on Instagram isn’t going to cut it if you want to actually make money.

She takes the guesswork out of starting an Instagram account for influencers. If you’ve been wanting to learn how to…

  • define your brand/personality
  • find work opportunities with brands you love
  • find hashtags to help you outperform competitors
  • attract your audience with your Instagram bio (there’s a wrong way to do this, trust me)
  • do your taxes so you don’t incur any fines
  • and MAKE MONEY on Instagram…

then I highly suggest you give this course your hard-earned dollar because it’s worth every penny and will save you a lot of heartache and time.

Why Brands Work With Influencers And What They Look for

Influencer: someone who has: the power to affect the purchasing decisions of others because of his or her authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with his or her audience. Source

Here’s the kicker – brands don’t only work with influencers that have 50,000 or 100,000 followers. They work with influencers big and small, and what’s important is having an engaged audience.

This genius influencer course details how to appeal to brands while staying true to your own brand, what brands look for in the ideal influencer, and how to increase engagement to create an audience that wants to hear what you have to say – which is what brands want!

By following these guidelines set forth in the course, you’ll be able to land dream partnerships with brands you love and get paid for the content you create.

Setting Up Your Instagram Profile

Starting and setting up your Instagram profile to be profitable isn’t as simple as just signing up with a crafty handle.

BTW, a handle is Instagram lingo for username. For instance, my handle is @slayathomemother.

Elaine goes through the differences between a Creator account vs. a Business account, as well as the pros and cons of each, and which one is right for you.

She teaches you how to look at your analytics so you can relay this information to brands, and learn who your content is targeting.

She also includes a great segment on branding your Instagram profile from your profile picture and bio to your layout, coloring, and highlights with real examples.

Creating Content On A Schedule

Probably the most important information in her course is how she teaches you to create content and deliver it to your audience.

Your favorite Instagram influencers make it look so easy, don’t they?

But there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes with each photo, each caption, each round of hashtags, and even the layout of their Instagram feed.

Elaine pulls back the curtain and walks you through creating content that your audience will love, and even mentions how to build trust off of your content.

She even has a free printable content calendar for all 12 months included that gives you ideas of what to post so you’re never in a rut. She has tons of great ideas so you can even plan out your content ahead of time!

Finding Work Opportunities As An Influencer

Not only does this course give you direct links to platforms influencers use to network through and collaborate with top brands, but Elaine also provides a list of brands that are currently looking to work with influencers.

This can really help you get your foot in the door and start establishing relationships with companies and brands.

She also covers how to price your content and find out what you’re worth!

Overpricing your content can send brands running in the opposite direction, whereas underpricing your content ensures you earn less than your potential while doing more work for less money.

Neither is ideal, but this course walks you through pricing completely so you are paid fairly and competitively.

Developing A Business Plan For Your Own Brand

What most people don’t realize about being an influencer is that to be successful, you need a game plan for the future.

Simply promoting products for other brands isn’t going to cut it in the long run.

You need something that YOU can offer your audience, whether that be a service or a digital product you can market to them.

Elaine goes into detail in her course on identifying what you want to accomplish with your Instagram account and how to develop a product for your own brand that will help you truly be successful at being an influencer.

This is something even I haven’t established in my career that I can look to gain from the course!
